    Encapuslated Drama

    This anthology is unmatched in how the melodic shapes encapsulate the drama. Just a few examples: note the blustery machismo of the theme for the Guns of Navarone is nicely centered in the radar return of A-G standing in for the futility of war; or the midlife crisis Slippage in the High and the Mighty; or the tonal instability of the fifth interval (a traditional symbol of authority) in Wild is the Wind. There is iconic encapsulation of the drama with a sharpness and clarity found nowhere else in the whole history of music.
