Fan of Rich Heffler!

This arrangement swims constantly in my head...so beautiful. My flute playing friend knows how to do this justice...I glide harmoniously in the background with the smooth accompaniment. Thank you, R.H.

Lovely

Lovely. Sounds intricate without being difficult. Was well received at church Sunday. People specifically commented on how the piano part blended & added to the quality, instead of just providing background notes.

Lovely arrangement!

I played this as an advent prelude. The arrangement is very, very nice. It took a little practice to get used to all the ornamentations and rhythms that are slightly different than what is usual for this piece, but once that was done it was very enjoyable and relaxing to play. I love the accompaniment.

What Child Is This?

I love it. It took practice - but will be well worth it. I am a Mom who plays occassionally for church. I played throughout high-school but only occassionally in college. The piano accompaniment was excellent as well.

never heard an arrangement like that before

I played this for an advent offertory at my church (avg congregation size about 600) and here are some of the comments I got from fellow musicians: That was just amazing. I've never heard a Christmas carol arrangement like that before. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Now, don't get a big head. But that was good, pretty good. (That last one made me laugh!) I rated this Intermediate/Advanced because the grace notes, which I think make the arrangement, took surprisingly long to get. It's definitely *not* one of those boring church pieces you sight read, 10 minutes before the service starts! Heffler's added refrain, which both starts and ends the piece, is poignant and haunting. I dropped the D# grace notes in the first verse, because they sounded a little too jazzy for this setting. The entire piece reads a lot better at a slightly slower Moderato.
