About Sharon Aaronson

(1950– )


Sharon Aaronson has worked in Boston, Los Angeles, Denver and Dallas throughout her career as a pianist, composer, arranger, editor, and teacher. A graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music, Sharon's studies were concentrated in jazz and classical piano performance, jazz arranging, and composition. She studied with esteemed teachers, including Gary Burton, E. Dean Earl, John LaPorta, Andy McGhee, Ted Pease, Herb Pomeroy, Ray Santisi, Paul Schmeling, and Phil Wilson. Her curriculum at Berklee nurtured the development of a rich and unique style in both her compositional and pianistic techniques.

A member of Alfred's composing team since 1990, Sharon's arrangements of jazz standards, classical favorites, movie hits, and Broadway classics are featured in her popular Top 10 series. She was also a contributing arranger for Alfred's Basic Piano Library'sTop Hits! and Greatest Hits series. Over the years, Sharon has written many original piano solos and collections. Her patriotic arrangements from The Spirit of America were chosen for the National Federation of Music Club's Junior Festival Bulletin, as well asBack Bay Blues (two pianos, four hands), Between Two Lands (for right hand alone), and several other original piano solos. Among her most requested jazz-style collections are Christmas Stylings, Books 1 and 2, and Christmas on the Jazzy Side.

A Boston native, Sharon relocated to Los Angeles in 1980 where she lives with her husband, Alan.
