40 Elementary Studies Op. 54 for Violin by Franz Wohlfahrt Violin Solo - Sheet Music

By Hans Sitt

Franz Wohlfahrt (1833-1884) was a violin teacher in Leipzig, Germany. His famous 40 Elementary Studies for Violin, Op. 54 are still widely used by violin and viola students and provide further variety and bowing combinations from the 60 Studies. Among the usual détaché numbers there are more legato studies here, with more dotted rhythms, including a study in Mazurka style.

wohlfahrt op.54 Etudes

I find this is the best next step for my students when they get into Book 2 Suzuki violin. They increase their note reading, bowing and finger agility to a high level. I use it along side Suzuki Bk 2. Highly recommend this book.Only draw back there is no measure markings in this day and age of Covid Zoom teaching or 6 feet distance in-person teaching.
